Welcome to the show. On Monday, a boat carrying 260 Somali and Ethiopian refugees capsized off

the coast of Yemen. Dozens have been reported dead, and that number will almost certainly rise.

It's a tragic event and it's part of a much larger story.

According to a new report from the UN's refugee agency, UNHCR,

more than 7,600 people died or are missing

after attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea over just the last three years.

On the other end of this equation, many host countries are becoming increasingly hostile

to anyone attempting to start a new life on their shores. Immigration has been a divisive issue

in elections all over the world. In country after country,

politicians are ramping up of fear of outsiders. This is a crisis that has only been getting

worse. Thanks to climate change and conflict, the flow of people escaping their homes has

increased every single year of the last decade.

The UNHCR reports that there are 43 million refugees globally.

These are people who flee their countries.

But an even bigger number, 120 million, is the number of people classified as forcibly displaced, so often within their own countries
