What's up everyone? Welcome back to the show. Today we're going to talk about a topic that I think we've all heard about whether you're a gardener or not and that is the Save the Bees global campaign I guess you could call it. I'm not sure if it's actually a campaign that a single person or organization started. I do know that that is the sort of hashtag or the trending phrase, to save the bees. And I wanted to ask McKay how serious of an issue is this because I know

certainly that it's something that we need to be concerned about. But I wanted to know from a beekeeper,

someone who really loves the bees and knows so much about them,

what her take was on it and what we can do as home gardeners to try to do our little part in saving the bees.

And that's the whole Save the Bees campaign, I guess if you will.

And is it as serious as people seem to think that it is? Is it overblown? What should we know about it as like a home gardener?

Yeah, for sure. I mean, even like hearing that the honey coming from China doesn't even have

Pollan in it anymore is so devastating and so crazy that we've kind of got to this point

where we're chemically altering things and I think a lot of that has

harmed the bees. I mean you'll get a lot of people saying we don't know why this

is happening we have no idea why the bees are dropping off and all

the sudden they're on the endangered species list. Well I mean I personally think it

all boils down to humans. We are messing too much with the ecosystem.

There's a lot of places where, what is it?

What am I trying to say?

They don't have a habitat anymore, that we're taking away that we're building new

complexes that were and which is really awesome that you are kind of doing an urban garden that you

you know live in this cement jungle but you still have a place for the bees and I don't think a lot of people are aware that you know the house I just built we tore down a ton of milkweed and because of that

minor butterflies are not going to be migrating this year like people aren't really aware of things like that and so

We're building a lot we're not replacing any of those flowers. We're using pesticides on everything because of mass

production, mass production of food and trying to get more out and trying to sell more.

And it's just, it's, I think it's really affecting things. Air pollution, global warming
