| 0:36.0 | about today and that is how can I safely increase my mileage? Now that was the question |
| 0:41.7 | I got from one of the athletes that I've recently |
| 0:44.6 | started coaching. The athlete in question just struggled to get past around 20 |
| 0:51.0 | miles a week. She thought that improving this and |
| 0:54.1 | building her mileage little would really lead to increased performance |
| 0:58.1 | but she just couldn't get there whether it was because she got niggles or she just found it hard to keep up the quality of training |
| 1:08.3 | when she increased the mileage. She was just struggling with that. So I gave her some tips on how to safely |
| 1:16.7 | increase her mileage and I'm going to share those with you just in case that's an |
| 1:21.8 | issue that you're having. |
| 1:23.0 | Firstly, you need to think about why you're trying to build mileage and |
| 1:28.0 | whether it will actually be something that will help you. |
| 1:31.5 | In her case, she had quite a lot of time to train. She had |
| 1:38.4 | been running the same mileage for a long |
| 1:45.0 | time, and she wanted to move towards the longer distances, |
| 1:46.0 | so it made sense. |
| 1:48.0 | But it doesn't actually make sense for everyone. |
| 1:51.0 | Increasing mileage is a way that runners can improve that endurance and performance and |
| 1:54.9 | it has been shown that in general the runners who run more mileage are faster but that's |
