Hello listeners and welcome to Politico's nerd cast.

I'm Scott Bland, your host.

This week on the nerd cast, we are going to talk through the upcoming Senate impeachment

trial.

Big news.

We're going to do the play-by-play as far as we know it from the swearing in of the senators and the chief justice

all the way through the closing arguments.

And we have some idea of how things will proceed, thanks to our guests reporting on the

preparations and his encyclopedic knowledge of what happened in the Clinton impeachment.

But first, we're going to talk to some of our numbers nerds about polling and the upcoming

Iowa caucuses for Democrats, what the most recent 2020 numbers tell us, and also how that plays

into a recent spate of congressional endorsements we've seen for the top candidates heading

into Iowa.

As always a quick note that we are taping this on Thursday, January 16th.

So anything breaking that happens after that, we will talk about it on a future episode.
