Summary

One of the most asked questions I receive is how do you parent your children with a Narcissistic partner? Parenting alongside a narcissist is challenging, but my aim for this episode is to equip you with the knowledge to create a positive environment for your children. I’ll explore strategies to navigate and overcome the obstacles a narcissistic partner or ex-partner might present, helping you ensure the best upbringing for your kids.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • How to minimise the impact of the narcissist on your children.

  • Methods to raise your children in the manner you want and reduce the influence of the narcissistic parent.

  • What technology and apps you can use to make your parenting life easy.

Unfortunately, narcissists will try using your own children against you to make you look like a bad parent. To reduce the narcissist's impact, I will share with you ideas such as Parallel Parenting and Extreme Modified Communication so that you can prioritize your mental health and your children's well-being. The hardest thing for me after splitting up with my narcissistic husband was trying to parent effectively, so I want to share with you what I learned to make your life as simple as possible.

1:03.0

than maybe it was last year. Some of you may have made New Year's resolutions or intentions for the

1:08.7

year. And look, even if you've started to break them, be kind to

1:12.9

yourself. We're so hard on ourselves when we're coming out to the relationship with a narcissist.

1:19.0

And I think this time of year, we can be even more hard on ourselves. It gives us an even more reason

1:23.8

to beat ourselves with a stick, doesn't it? That we're a failure and things are down the

1:28.2

pan and our life is a mess. But it doesn't need to be like that. And I'd really urge you just to

1:33.7

take one day at a time when you're absolutely in the midst of it. It's really important to keep

1:37.9

perspective with all of that. Don't look too far ahead one day at a time and be kind to

1:42.9

yourself. And that's the whole reason I started this

1:45.4

podcast because I know how lonely it can be when you're trying to heal from narcissistic abuse.

1:50.4

Now that could be you're still in a relationship with a narcissist. Maybe you've got narcissistic

1:54.5

parents or maybe you've just come out or even you've been out years and you're still stuck because

1:59.0

that was me. So I know what it is like.

2:01.8

So wherever you are, whoever the narcissist is in your life, I hope this is a place for you

2:06.8

every single week for you to come and listen to and just hopefully feel some hope.
