Trump's tariffs continue to roil global trade.

But how should countries navigate the turmoil?

The answer depends on whether you trust Trump to stay the course.

Today, we'll talk about the menu of options in front of countries

and whether they can build a trade ecosystem without America.

But just one thing before we get to all of that.

This Friday, Trump is meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Yes, you can dismiss the summit as a reality TV stunt.

Yes, we've been here before with North Korea's Kim Jong-un in Trump's first term.

And yes, Trump himself is trying to downplay the summit, calling it a, quote, feel-out meeting.

Yes to all of that.

But I think it's wrong to dismiss the Alaska summit entirely.

The reality is the war in Ukraine shows no signs of stopping on its own.

Some diplomatic movement, no matter how little you trust it, might help move things along.

And if it doesn't, at the very least, it could serve to accelerate Trump's journey
