Summary

There is little worse than coming home from your vacation feeling like you need an entire additional vacation to destress from your trip. So whether it's prepping at work beforehand to make sure you (and your colleagues) aren't stressed about the state of your inbox or finding a destination that will ensure you're truly taking time for yourself, this week we're talking all about the ways wellness plays into our travels. To chat relaxation strategies and offer some insight into why we're all craving wellness vacations (whatever shape that takes for you personally), we've tapped Traveler's senior features editor, Becca Misner, and Rebecca Platt, director of sales and marketing at Sunswept Resorts in St. Lucia.

Hi, this is Women Who Travel, a podcast from Konday Nass Traveler. I am Lale Aricoglu, and with me, as always, and in person, for the first time in two years, is my co-host Meredith Carey. Hello. I'm going to take a guess and say that for most listeners, the idea of a wellness retreat probably seems deeply appealing right now.

0:23.9

Not only is an opportunity to indulge in, say, decadent new spa treatments, but also to find time to just take a beat and seek a sense of quiet after a challenging few years.

0:34.4

Of course, actually relaxing on your relaxing trip is easier said than done, which is why

0:39.5

we're tapping two wellness experts for their advice on how to make the most of your next

0:43.7

wellness trip. Traveler's very own senior features editor, Becca Meisner, and Rebecca Platt,

0:49.8

director of sales and marketing at Sunswept Resorts in St. Lucia. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having us,

0:55.8

Lally. So I'd love to kick it off by asking how each of you have integrated wellness into your

1:02.7

personal travels. How has that factored into the trips? You've been taking long before we were in a

1:10.0

pandemic. Obviously, the last two years, I mean, personal

1:14.3

travel has been, let's, shall we say, rather limited, very restricted. So for me, my personal

1:21.6

travels have only just really started to resume from last, towards the end of last year. And one of the things for me that I have

1:29.8

really embraced with my new travel style is to have more me time because generally when I

1:36.9

travel myself, 90% of the time it's for work. It's for a work trip which I've then extended

1:43.5

a personal trip on top of.

1:45.5

So for me, the biggest integration of wellness that I've started to do is making sure that

1:51.4

instead of going there just for the work purposes that I'm travelling for is to have some time,

1:57.0

taking some extra days, which I'd never normally do. Life's too hectic. I'm getting back to

2:02.1

the office and getting back to day-to-day life. So those extra days that I've been taken to unwind,

2:08.6

relax. I've even started doing things like meditation and spa treatments when I travel because I talk

2:14.9

about it every day when I'm working, but actually doing it is a whole different

2:19.4

ballgame. So for me, it's really finding that me time. And Becca, how about you? You know,

2:27.0

in a similar vein, most of my travel is for work. And even when I'm on a wellness trip or checking out a wellness property, it's really
