And I'm Amy Sandler, your host for the Radical Cander podcast. And today, we're going to talk about how to make work less like junior high

by implementing something, junior high school, sixth grade.

We're going to implement something that Fred Kaufman, who was your coach, Kim, at Google, calls clean escalation. So first,

let's start with a definition of clean escalation. Here's one that I have, but I would love for you,

Jason and Kim, to tweak as necessary. So when we talk about clean escalation, we don't want to let people talk about one another

to you behind each other's backs.

And we don't want to engage in office gossip.

So we want to encourage people to talk directly.

And if they still can't resolve whatever issue

they might be having, and you're the manager, to set up a three-way conversation.
