One of my greatest missions in life is to figure out how to make science simple.

0:06.7

It's not just about the science.

0:08.4

It's about really understanding what is going on within our body when we take care of ourselves and when we don't. I'm a firm believer that it is critically important

0:25.4

to practice daily self-care in the way that we eat, the way that we sleep, the way that we

0:32.3

meditate, the way that we exercise, even the way that we breathe. But the fact of the matter is,

0:41.9

it's really hard to convince someone to take care of themselves if they don't understand the

0:48.4

adverse consequences of failing to do so. So in order for me to help inspire people to take better care of themselves,

0:58.2

one of my greatest, greatest, greatest things that I strive to do is to ensure that I can explain

1:10.2

the science behind why I am encouraging you to eat,

1:17.2

to exercise, to sleep, to do all of these different self-care activities.

1:23.6

Because for me, you can tell me all day long that I need to breathe and that I need to meditate,

1:28.7

but the fact of the matter is, until I understand why that is doing something beneficial for

1:37.0

my body, it is not an important behavior for me to incorporate into my daily routine.

1:44.8

I love it when other people make science simple, engaging, entertaining, memorable, and fun.

1:56.4

And that's exactly what my guest today does.

2:05.6

Syed Risvi is the founder of RevMed. And today, he and I talk about how we can go about making science simple, entertaining, and

2:14.6

memorable.

2:16.6

I've decided that my major goal is to help people take care of

2:20.3

themselves. Syed and RevMed are on a mission to ensure that people who are becoming

2:29.5

physicians and nurses and pharmacists have an easier time memorizing and recalling and actually

2:38.4

internalizing all of the information that goes into becoming a physician, a pharmacist, a nurse,

2:45.9

a dietician, all of the different health care jobs. There's so much to learn. How can we make science simple?
