This is Life Kit. I'm Shereen Marisol Maraji and because it's Pi season we're

gonna share some tips from our guest a Pi Hard Pi Maker with a wildly

popular Instagram account called Local Kitchen, Local Spelled LO KO. My name is

Lauren Coe and I'm the author of the cookbook Pi Ommetry. So Lauren I have been

following you in your work since February of 2018 and I know this because I

made my very first Pi in February of 2018 and I posted it on Instagram because

of course you know if you don't put it on social media it didn't happen. Of

course it was an absolutely disastrous looking Pi and a friend of mine called

me on the phone and was like oh do you want to feel even worse about yourself?

You need to follow Local Kitchen on Instagram and so I did and I was like oh my

God these pies are works of art. You have a cookbook now I'm so excited about it

and I absolutely love the first inscription I was wondering if you have it

there if you would mind reading it for us. Yes to all the other regular

nobody's out there minding their own business dreaming dreams they don't even

know they have you never know where life will take you and what magic awaits

this is for you. What is the story behind that inscription? It's basically my

story so I made my very first Pi in the summer of 2016 I had just moved to

Seattle and was looking for a job and you know as one does with too much time on

their hands was just puttering around on the internet and I stumbled across

some really beautiful pictures of Pi and thought huh I've been you know

casually cooking and baking and obviously eating my entire life but in my

Chinese hinder in American family there wasn't a lot of traditional apple pie
