In today's episode we're going to talk about why every moment is a new beginning and how to really

dwell in that understanding.

First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. So a basic tenet of mindfulness of meditation is that in each moment we get to start fresh.

We've never seen this moment before and therefore it's a new opportunity for us, a new

opportunity to choose how we would like to show up, who we would like to be in this moment.

And of course, the momentum of our past becomes the platform for doing the work of being in the present moment and can certainly

influence our conditioning in the present moment. But there is something

liberating and powerful when we let go as much as possible of our ideas of who we were or even

where we're going and just dwell in this moment of presence as a snapshot of your life,

seemingly independent of everything else,

and say, how do I want to be right now?

Who do I want to be right now? Who do I want to be right now? What do I want to think? How do I want to respond?

I think for many people who first get involved with mindfulness, this is one of the most liberating things.

For the first time, more often for the first time, that person gets to see,

wow, I have more influence over my life than I think.

And a great training to be able to start to see this deeply, not just as a cognitive understanding,

because we can all understand it cognitively, but to really know it in our bones for our nervous system to know it, is through

the practice of meditation and specifically through the practice of following the breath with our awareness.
