If you're a Christian parent, you probably have experienced this kind of a scenario and I'm just going to relate it to general things that happened in the fuller household.

I am trying to have a serious time of devotions with my younger children and they will not pay attention

or they start bumping into each other and rough housing or they start totally daydreaming on something else and I feel like

wait a minute I'm trying to be spiritual here what's wrong with you get with the program I'm the spiritual head. Listen to what I say. It's a train wreck.

And the harder I try, the worse it gets. I'm Jean Fuller along with Danny

Werta, who directs our parenting and youth team here at Focus on the Family and Danny you

probably felt the frustration that still lingers in my heart because my kids

wouldn't get with the program. What's wrong with my approach?

Well I've had a similar moment like that John. What's wrong with my approach?

Well, I've had a similar moment like that,

several, actually, especially when early on trying

to be the dad that taught the devotions

and everybody needs to listen and have an audience.

I still remember one particular Sunday when it had snowed.

It was, we had a snow day and I thought, hey, we're going to do church here at home.

We're going to have church service.

And it didn't go as planned.

The kids were really wanting to go outside, play in the snow.

I want to do church.

And it just, it didn't go as planned.
