When you have an angry child, it's important to remember that they are not yet an adult,

and it's your job as a parent to help learn those coping mechanisms and the self-control

that that child's going to need eventually.

I'm John Fuller along with Danny Werta and Danny you counsel kids and families and

if there's kind of a number one mistake that parents have when it comes

to dealing with angry kids what do you think it is?

Really trying to fix it right in the moment. Trying to fix the anger and engaging with the child in the moment.

And it begins to push many parents buttons. All that emotion is really clouding the

kids vision and they're not going to be receptive?

Is that what you're saying?

Right, and then the parents starts to escalate as well.

And they escalate one another.

That is so easy to fall into the, yeah, well, and then it just goes back and forth.

And it doesn't help to be rational with an irrational child, like trying to demand respect

in the moment of sheer emotion from a child.

You will not talk to me that way.

That's right.

Yeah, trying to bring those rational questions

just not going to be helpful.

Calmness needs to be found.
