Hello everyone. It's me Kevin from Epic Gardening. Today we're talking about how to grow an infinite

0:07.7

amount of basil and I do mean infinite. Technically, how do we do it? Well, I just released a video on my YouTube channel about this

0:16.8

and it's going to utilize the Kratky method of hydroponics and Kratky basically is just the most passive way that you can grow

0:24.8

hydroponically. You are sacrificing some efficiency in order to spend almost

0:30.0

zero time after setting it up. And so the way that I designed this system is based on

0:34.3

ball wide mouth mason jars, so the three inch wide mouth mason jars. And the

0:40.0

reason I'm doing that is because a three inch net pot fits beautifully in the top of that and they hold a decent amount of water.

0:48.0

And so here is the method. All you have to do is get a basil plant from a nursery.

0:54.0

You can also grow your own, but if you're looking for speed,

0:57.0

go ahead and just go pick up a basil plant,

0:59.0

whatever variety you like,

1:01.0

and then you're going to need some rock wool cubes for

1:04.2

propagation and you're going to need probably some expanded clay pellets although you

1:07.8

can use whatever growing media you want. Other than that all you need is that mason jar that net pot and then obviously some

1:15.7

hydroponic nutrients and so the method is this what I would do if you want a

1:20.5

never-ending supply of infinite basil off of the same exact plant is this.

1:26.4

I would propagate probably four to six different cuttings.

1:32.0

You might lose a couple, although Basil is notoriously easy to root.

1:36.4

And then I would set these up so what you're going to do is you're going to take your

1:40.3

cutting you can use rooting hormone, you don't have to,

1:42.6

basil is pretty easy to root like I said, and then place that in the rockwell cutting,

1:47.9

make sure that it stays moist during the rooting period, put your rockwell
