Summary

She called them “engagement nails” and then casually added she wasn’t engaged yet. That tiny moment in a nail salon hit me like a lightning bolt because it shows the difference between hoping and preparing. When you act like something is coming, before you have proof, you start shaping your life around the result you want. That’s not fluffy manifesting. That’s moving in faith. I have to tell you something that happened to me in the nail salon about a week ago.

0:16.5

I got there, sat down, had my regular manicurist, ordered my wine. It was just like a lovely

0:22.5

afternoon as usual. And I got chatting to the girl next to me. We started talking about

0:29.3

nails, of course, a bit about Miami where we live and specifically the neighborhood in which we

0:34.3

live. And, you know, it's just one of those stranger conversations

that happens here and there, especially when I'm in a good mood and I'm energized. Normally,

0:42.5

1:48.0

that sometimes you hear, it's in a lot of kind of older school personal development books,

1:54.0

this expression, dig your ditches, dig your ditches. It comes from, I looked it up actually, from the Bible.

2:03.0

It's in two kings, apparently.

2:06.3

And people are told, because people are told to dig their ditches before the rain arrives.

2:14.4

Okay, basically, of course, there are biblical stories about this, but this is

2:18.1

everyday life that we're talking about here. It's acting in faith before the evidence shows up.

2:26.7

Are you doing this? I've told this story a million times, but I bought my first national morning
