0:15.0	Our need-jerk response when someone does something to hurt us is to hope they get what they deserve.
0:20.0	I see this in myself. You talked about me behind my back. I hope people know you are a
0:25.4	gossamer. Or you cancel plans with me. I hope you experience what it feels like to
0:30.9	have plans canceled. But that's ridiculous. You know why? Well,
0:37.2	mostly because I'm guilty of gossip and I cancel plans. And I don't want to be
0:41.3	punished for it or experience the pain that comes from it.
0:44.0	So why on earth would I want that for someone else?
0:48.0	True forgiveness involves not wanting people to get what they deserve.
0:52.0	True forgiveness comes from knowing
0:54.2	what we deserve. This is why people who draw near to God are burdened with the need
1:00.1	to forgive. As we draw near to God we come face to face with our own
1:04.8	sin, our own brokenness, and with bigger eyes we see the depths to which we are
1:10.5	forgiven in Christ. In Genesis 45 we see a beautiful scene of forgiveness
1:15.5	unfold between Joseph and his brothers and the scene is filled with emotion and
1:19.1	language. Let's look at it together. So the brothers have made the journey to Egypt with their youngest brother
1:25.0	Benjamin to buy grain from Joseph's storehouses because the land is in a famine. And the brothers have
1:30.4	changed from the people who cast Joseph in a pit and sold them into slavery.
