Summary

There has been a lot of conversation recently about finding out your gifts, and I have been hearing from women who are seeking to know what their gifts are. They particularly want to know how God wants them to use their gifts in their lives. How do we do that? First of all, I think it’s important that we have these conversations in light of the idea of “vocation,” which is a counter-cultural concept. Some ways I recommend finding out what your gifts are include: 1) What are you good at? This one is obvious, but sometimes we don’t pay attention to our natural skills. What comes easy for you that is difficult for others? 2) What do others say? What do the people in your life tell you your gifts are? Ask them! 3) Pray about it. Ask God what your gifts are, and the ways in which he wants you to use them in service to others. 4) Remember the idea of hidden talents. The gifts that God has given you might not be obvious and/or glamorous. Be open to the idea that your skills may be a hidden part of your service to God and others, rather than obvious “talents” that others readily appreciate. Finally, I answer a question from listener Karen who shares about her struggle with making fitness a regular part of her everyday routine.

0:55.5	Hey, girlfriends. How are you? Welcome to another episode of the Girlfriend's podcast. I'm so glad you're joining me here for another show. For another week, I love connecting with you here in this way. So thanks for being here. I'm recording this one outside. I wanted to record in the Tiki Hut. Those of you who have listened in the past know that sometimes during better weather, I sit out in the Tiki Hut. Yes, there's a Tiki Hut in our yard. My husband,
1:00.4	Dan, built it for me as a 40th birthday gift. It's a really nice permanent structure that has a bar in it
1:06.9	and seating and it's super nice. But the Tiki Hut has not yet been cleared out for the season.
1:13.8	That's how late a spring we have had this year. The grill is functional. I've been using the
1:18.5	grill, but the seating area has stuff piled up on it. We actually had a, this is so weird,
1:26.6	a princess bed delivered to us accidentally.
1:29.5	We placed an order with Wayfair for some other pieces of furniture.
1:32.9	And this giant princess bed, it's like the bed frame for the bed.
1:38.5	It's kind of like a chariot or something and it's pink metal.
1:42.4	That got delivered to us a couple of months ago, accidentally.
1:46.9	And when we called Wayfair to have them pick it up, to return it, they ended up telling us
1:51.6	they weren't going to bother and we could keep it. Only problem is, it's this giant thing,
1:55.4	and we don't know anybody who wants it. So if you happen to live within driving distance of
2:00.4	central New Hampshire Hampshire and you would
2:02.2	like a princess bed, I'm sure some little girl would love this thing. Come on by. Let me know.
2:09.4	We'll have you come pick it up. I would love to give it to you. I don't want to just throw it away.
2:13.1	It's a brand new, actually, you know, costs over $100. And the other thing is some people have said we can just sell it on Craigslist or whatever.
