Summary

In this week’s Spiritual Perspective, we explore what I call The Constantinople Effect—the tendency to give up too soon when the path forward feels “too hard,” and to rationalize it with phrases like, maybe it’s just not meant to be. Drawing from the dramatic fall of Constantinople, we’ll look at what happens when conventional efforts aren’t enough—and why sometimes the only way through is to consider the “impossible.” Just as the Ottoman army hauled seventy massive warships over land to outf...

We're all a bit lazy, especially spiritual people who rely heavily on things like manifesting and going with the flow.

In a previous spiritual perspective, we talked about the concept of going with the flow and how it's not always appropriate to go with the flow, especially if we have been neglecting the key areas of our life,

0:25.2

health, career, finances, relationships. We've been neglecting those parts and not making the

0:31.6

aligned choices often enough. Then those areas start to diminish. they start to decline, we start to feel contracted,

0:40.1

and we wonder why I feel so stuck and how am I going to get myself out.

0:44.2

And as spiritual people, we tend to put a little bit too much emphasis on the universe,

0:49.0

just figuring it out and manifesting something and all the other airy-fairy and woo-woo type of language around

0:57.6

course correction in life.

0:59.8

And we absolve ourselves from having to do the hard work of making those strong choices

1:04.8

on a regular basis.

And so that's what the last episode was about is we have to disrupt those areas where we feel like

1:12.1

we've been going with the flow too much, meaning we've been accepting mediocrity for ourselves

1:17.1

too much. And we have no choice but to make strong choices for ourselves if we want to

1:22.7

course correct. And so in today's episode, we're going to look at how to actually move in the direction

1:29.3

of a course correction. I gave the analogy of using sticks of dynamite to clear a logjam

1:34.2

in that Go with the Flow episode. So if you haven't seen that episode, definitely check it out

1:38.6

so you can understand that analogy. One thing that I didn't get into in that other episode is the

1:43.7

human tendency to be lazy.

1:45.7

If we're being honest, we're all a bit lazy when it comes to doing the things that we're

1:51.4

going to need to do in order to see the kinds of results that we ultimately want to see,

1:56.0

especially spiritual people who rely heavily on things like manifesting and going with the flow, those are

2:03.7

sometimes appropriate responses, as we said, when things are moving in the direction that you
