Summary

Now is when the real work begins. Voting is like a gun, but legislative activism is like the bullet to load that gun. Today, I offer a unique presentation on why spectacular electoral victories for the Right always end in both policy and political failure within two years. This time will be no different if we don’t change our approach. Weaving together some electoral observations from the election results together with policy analysis, I offer an agenda built on empowering states to go separate ways on a bunch of critical issues. Rather than promising to cut spending and then never doing it, Republicans should use the few leverage points they have to devolve welfare, agriculture, transportation, and education programs to the states so that they can go in separate ways. We also need to fortify red states from the inevitable Democrat comeback, and that will require a new focus on primaries. We must strike while the iron is hot. 1:01.9	Republican Party, is voting is like a gun, but the day-to-day activism thereafter, they're the
1:10.2	bullets. It's very nice to have a gun,
1:12.8	but if you have nothing to fire, then it's worthless. If you don't orient those people that
1:17.9	you think are representing you to do the right things, then there's no point. You can have a gun
1:23.0	and pull that trigger all you want and trade it like a toy gun. Well, I mean, you're not supposed to point a gun
1:28.4	at each other. But you know what I mean? Like, you could have a great time knock yourself out doing that.
1:33.2	It's nothing. And that's my concern watching some of conservative media, Fox News, and the focus.
1:40.6	And today is really where the hard work begins, where everyone else sort of tunes out, well, you know, okay, the polls are over with, so I have nothing to talk about. This is now when we get busy, a broad vision, individual issues, federal state, it all matters.
