Deuteronomy chapter 12, verse 8, you shall not do according to all that we are doing here today.

Everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes.

This verse is such a warning and a word of caution that we see at strategic points throughout

the history of God's people. It summarizes what we see in the book of judges. Everyone was doing

what was right in their own eyes. And judges is a horrifying book in the sense that it depicts such evil as people do what's right in

their eyes. And this way, Deuteronomy 12-8 is a reminder to you and me today to not live

according to what is right in our own eyes. And this goes all the way back to Genesis chapter

three in the entrance of sin in the world. It is never good. It is deadly when men and women decide

they know better than God what's right and good. And I could right now just list so many examples

of the way this is playing out in culture around me, all kinds of redefinition of right and good according to what men and women think is right instead of what God says is right and good.

And the reality is Deuteronomy 128 is not just speaking to the culture around us.

God is speaking to us through it.

He's calling us to conform our lives to what is right according to his word. So in a fresh way today,

I just want to encourage you to lay aside all your ideas of what is right and good and submit

to what God's word says is right and good. Look at the world around you,

at your life, and at every choice you make through the lens of what God sees and what God says

in his word about righteousness and goodness. And don't get caught up in a world, conform to the

pattern of a world that redefines right and good according to our own eyes, our own desires,

our own perspectives. God help us today to live according to what is right in your eyes, not

according to what's right in our eyes. God, help us to

see with your eyes. Help us to see everything in our lives and the world of the lens of your
