Deuteronomy chapter 11, verse 2.

And consider today, since I am not speaking to your children who have not known or seen it,

consider the discipline of the Lord your God, His greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm.

And then verse 3 goes on to continue to describe all the different ways that God's people,

who God is speaking to at this point, had seen his power and his love and his righteousness

and his justice and his might and his discipline, his mercy, all the ways they'd seen God work. And God is saying

to them, consider what you've seen and pass on what you've seen to the next generation. And you

keep going in this chapter. You get to verse 18 and God says, bind my word on your heart and on your

soul and teach my word and all these things that you have seen to your children.

And that's what's so interesting here in Deuteronomy 11 too, because God's making a distinction.

He's saying, I'm not speaking to your children who've not known or seen what you've seen.

I'm speaking to you. And I'm calling you to faithfully pass on what you know,

what you've seen about me, my character, my works, my word, be faithful to pass this on

to the next generation. When I read this, I think about all the ways I have seen and experienced

God's mercy, all the ways I have witnessed God's hand at work

and a lot of learned from God's word.

I've been entrusted with all these things to pass them on.

I have a stewardship given to me.

And obviously not just to me, to every one of us who has been given grace from God,

received mercy from God, seen the work, heard the word of God. It's not just for us. It's for

those who are coming behind us. Even if you're a teenager, a child listening to these things,
