When you read headlines about the cost of living crisis,

about how much energy bills are going to go up this winter

on top of how much food and fuel prices have risen,

it can be difficult to comprehend.

What it means for you as an individual, for your costs as a family,

and what it'll do to our society.

In the UK gas prices have spiked, there are warnings of an energy crumbling.

There is no good way of putting this.

Now we all know energy bills are set to rise again,

with one charity saying the news will strike terror into the hearts of millions.

From the first of October, the cap on energy prices,

that's the maximum someone on a standard energy tariff will pay,

is going up from around £1,100 a year to more than £3,500.

A study by the University of York estimates that two-thirds of people will be forced into fuel

poverty this winter.

And now experts at the Investment Bank Goldman Sachs are warning that inflation

could go beyond 20% next year.

And though the government has announced some financial help,

it's becoming increasingly clear that people will need much, much more.
