Summary
I recently got a message from a listener who was looking for advice about how to communicate with more certainty, authority, and confidence. If you were raised in a culture that really values politeness and being more soft spoken (shout out to all my Midwesterners!), you might be subconsciously diminishing your ability to make the greatest impact possible.
I'm sharing three ways that I've become more conscious of my communication style, how I've tweaked it, and the results that I've seen in my business because of these small changes. In order to be able to fulfill a bigger vision, you have to step into a new level of leadership, and these tips will help you get there.
In this episode we talk about:
- How you can command respect in a way that reflects your authentic personality
- Recognizing when you're apologizing for things that you don't need to apologize for
- Examples of what it looks like when we replace 'sorry' with 'thank you'
- Understanding that 'no' is a complete sentence
- Learning how to graciously accept acknowledgment instead of constantly deflecting compliments or praise
