| 0:30.0 | Okay, so confidence. Hot topic, a lot of people want to know how do we cultivate |
| 0:43.9 | more confidence. So we'll look at it through two lenses. There's the domain |
| 0:51.6 | specific confidence. So this is your confidence in doing certain tasks or |
| 0:58.2 | being in certain contexts, sport, music, conversation, socializing, etc. And then |
| 1:06.3 | we could say that there's just the general confidence to get through life. Now we |
| 1:11.4 | carry ourselves. There's lots that goes into developing each of these kinds of |
| 1:18.0 | confidences. But there's one key thing that often gets overlooked, which is |
| 1:23.9 | that your confidence is directly related to your capacity to be with |
| 1:29.0 | difficult experiences. Your confidence is directly related to your capacity to |
| 1:34.9 | be with difficult experiences. Now even that definition we can look at in two |
| 1:42.0 | ways. We can perceive it through the lens of developing confidence and also |
| 1:46.8 | through the lens of having confidence. So through the lens of developing |
| 1:51.0 | confidence, your capacity to be with difficult experiences allows you to try |
| 1:56.7 | new things, to overcome them, to make mistakes, to go through what you might |
| 2:01.6 | perceive as failures. And your baseline capacity to hold the discomfort of that |
| 2:08.1 | and continue to move forward will lead to the development of a new skill set |
| 2:14.3 | and understanding of how to do something that would ultimately lead to a certain |
| 2:18.0 | kind of confidence. But that confidence that it's leading to is directly |
