America, we got to get back to doing what's expected of us as free citizens in this democracy.

That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed, and being engaged.

Hey, it's all about understanding.

I think it's all about trying to gain understanding.

I think the way we heal the divide in this country is we all put ourselves in the shoes

of the people that we disagree with politically.

And we simply try to understand why they think the way they do.

I'm not saying you got to find common ground with people you disagree with.

I'm not saying you got to love or like the people you politically disagree with.

All I'm saying is if you want to keep this thing together,

if you believe like I do, hi Kiko, hi everybody, amen, Evelyn.

If you want to, if you want this, if you believe believe like i do this country is dangerously divided

what we have to do is understand the people who disagree with us you don't have to love them

you don't have to like them you don't have to find common ground with them though that would

be nice you got to understand them because I believe, and I wasn't always this way, I used to be a very

divisive political asshole, but I believe that if you understand why the people who disagree

with you think the way they do, if you understand where they're coming from

then you're less inclined to hate them you're less inclined to look at them as your enemy

not just your political opponent but but as your mortal enemy.

And that's why I'm doing these face-to-face conversations with regular Americans every single week in this country.
