We have an interesting interview for you today.

I don't know if you've been watching for a while, you know that Christian and I, when we're looking through articles,

one of the programs that we like to use in order to look at original source material and just the way the information is organized is always pretty helpful and easy to understand is Wikipedia.

However, Wikipedia has developed something of a reputation for as long as I can remember,

people were saying don't cite Wikipedia articles in your research when you're doing college papers

or people would complain that it'd become a little bit too biased.

Well, today we have with us the co-founder of Wikipedia,

Larry Sanger. And Larry has had an incredibly interesting life, not just with developing and

co-founding Wikipedia, but with a lot of the work that he has done, whether it comes to

internet systems development, or studying philosophy and epistemology, things that are also

near and dear to our hearts

here on making the argument. So, Larry, thank you very much for being on with us today.

Well, right off the bat, can you take us through a little bit of the origin story of what you

were working on before Wikipedia and how that kind of

developed into it and maybe what your original vision was and the players for Wikipedia

when it was just getting started. Sure. What I was working on before Wikipedia was Newpedia

and before that I had started a blog and I was looking for you know advice on

well even before they were called blogs in 2000 Jimmy Wales was an acquaintance of mine

and he said don't work on that come and work for me start this new encyclopedia. It's called Newpedia, NUPedia.

And basically, you would be starting it from the ground up.
