Summary

Today’s episode was all about how the gospel helps us to make peace with our past. Our pasts hold a lot for each of us—good memories, sad seasons, hard times, and everything in between. The way we view our past has implications for us in the present and for our future. It can hinder us or help us in our spiritual growth. It can even dictate how you respond to others in times of stress. In this conversation, we talk about the power of the gospel to help us make peace with our past. We hope it is a helpful reminder to cling to Christ in all areas of life.   Sign up for the  Daily Grace Podcast Newsletter and receive the free resource "Scripture for Every Season.”   Time Stamps: 1:10 - Favorite Things 5:02 - Why talk about the past? 7:48 - The different ways we view our past 10:34 - The difference between guilt and shame 14:40 How our past shapes our future 18:45 - Our past and the gospel 24:45 - Processing your past in community 26:08 - A way forward   Favorite Things: Battery Organizer Routinely App   Related Resources: Podcast: Gospel Hope for Shame with Kristyn Perez Blog: Bought to Be Free Blog: Understanding the Power of God’s Sustaining Grace   Scripture mentioned in this episode: Hebrews 12:1-2 Psalm 103:11-14 2 Corinthians 7:10 Romans 10:11 Connect with us: Subscribe to Daily Grace: on iOS, go to our iTunes page and click subscribe.  On Android, click this podcast RSS feed link and choose your podcast app.  If needed, you can copy this link directly into your favorite podcast app (like Stitcher or Overcast). 0:17.6

to help women like you, know and love God's Word. The Bible shows us who God is and who

0:24.7

He is, changes everything. My name is Shelby and I'm Crystal. And we want to invite you to come

0:31.2

join us as we chat about the truth of God's Word in our everyday lives.

0:37.6

Hey everybody and welcome back to the Daily Grace Podcast. This is Crystal and I

0:41.6

joined as always by my lovely co-host Shelby. Hey there everybody, glad to be with you today.

In today's episode, we're going to be discussing how we can view our past in light of the gospel

0:51.6

and what that means for us moving forward. So it's going to be in some ways a hard conversation.

0:56.0

I think really important and I think by the end of it, hopefully you will be encouraged as we

1:00.8

just walk through in light of the gospel, how we can do that and do in a healthy way. But first,

1:05.3

let's talk about our favorite thing. So Shelby, what is something that you are loving and using lately?

1:10.4

Okay. I literally had to ask you, Crystal, if this was a dumb favorite thing.

1:14.5

And it's not. Because I feel like it's dumb, how excited I've been over it lately. But it is a

1:23.3

get ready guys. This is so exciting. It's a battery organizer and actually my dad gave

1:30.9

this to my husband for Christmas. But this battery organizer has slots for every single different

1:38.0

kind of battery. And if you know, there's all sorts of things around their house that

1:42.7

we need batteries for previously, we had a basket that we kept them in, but they always follow the

1:47.4

package. They were all just like floating in the bottom. It was impossible to find what you

1:50.7

needed and kind of unsafe to have just like a basket of batteries are on kids. If I'm being

1:54.4

totally honest, this has like locking handles on it. I've had to get batteries a couple times

1:59.1

this week and each time I brought it down, I have thought this is my favorite. And so it truly is.

2:04.8

It's my favorite thing. I'm going to link it. You can find it on Amazon. It's a really inexpensive,
