0:56.0	300 years had been believing about Jesus. Or would Christianity start to follow a new popular
1:04.0	trend at the time that was spreading like wildfire across the Roman Empire in the early 300s?
1:10.0	It was a trend that downplayed, even rejected
1:12.7	Jesus' divinity, and was saying that Jesus was just a man, a creature created by God. The first
1:19.7	creature God created, the most glorious, most powerful, he was an important teacher, someone we have to
1:25.1	follow, he was a great savior, but in the end, he was just
1:29.1	one of God's creatures. That's why the Emperor Constantine at the time called the bishops together
1:35.2	for a famous council, the council of Nicaea. You know that council. That's the council that gave us
1:41.3	the great creed that we recite on Sundays. Now, I think this is really
1:45.4	practical for our lives today because we live in our own era where there are many popular
1:50.5	trends out there that downplay Christ divinity. Pope Leo recently talked about this. He talked about
1:57.1	how some people in the world view Jesus as irksome.
2:06.3	They don't like that he's claiming to be God and who he is because he might challenge me.
