| 0:52.0 | Hey, what's up, Franz, Grant Baldwin here. Welcome back to the speakerab podcast. Again, we are doing another bonus episode for you. So what we decided to do today is we hop back on with Eric Ream, who is our director of student success in education here at the Speaker Lab. And also a very successful speaker who speaks full-time, does a lot of gigs. And it's on the front lines of this. He's been dramatically affected by all that's been going on in COVID land. And so in the midst of this, like, we needed some good news, right? And so we wanted to talk through what he's been doing. He's actually been booking a lot of new events, booking a lot of virtual events, been presenting at virtual events. I'm like, business has happened for him. So we talked through that. We talk through other speakers that we've been hearing from that are continuing to see success and results. So now it's not a time to sling back. You know, we talk about how the past couple weeks it's kind of the initial shock of holy crap, what just happened here. And now that we're in the thick of this, it's an opportunity to lean into it, to adjust, to pivot, and to thrive as a result. And so |
| 1:44.8 | Eric is a good example that we talk about exactly what he's been doing and how you can do the same. So let's jump into this conversation with this bonus conversation with Eric Ream. Enjoy. Hey, what's that, friends? Grant Baldwin here. Hope you're doing well. Hope you're having a great day. Hey, today we are joined by my friend, Mr. Eric Ream, |
| 2:01.3 | who is a very successful speaker, as well as our director of education and student success here |
| 2:06.2 | at the Speaker Lab. He works with all of our booked and paid to speak elite students. And so I wanted |
| 2:11.4 | to take a couple minutes to chat with Eric and talk about kind of the state of the speaking industry |
| 2:15.9 | right now. I know that there's a lot of people who are feeling a lot of uncertainty and fear and worry and anxiety because it is. Let's acknowledge the elephant in the room. It is a really, really weird time. And we're not really sure, you know, what has happened or what the long-term ramifications or effects are. But at the same time, you know, a lot of speakers like yourself, Eric, a lot of our students that we work with are still consistently getting booked and paid to speak. So we'll dig into the weeds here, but kind of big picture. Let's zoom out for a second. How are you feeling? How are you doing in the midst of this uncertain world? I'm feeling great, Grant. I mean, it's, uh, I'm all over the place, |
| 2:53.5 | but it's all positive. It's just, uh, it's weird because, uh, I've been never been more busy than |
| 3:00.0 | ever. I've been really busy. And I see people on Facebook and like, I'm so bored. I'm like, |
| 3:05.1 | we're just bored of that Because I get up in the |
| 3:08.0 | morning, I don't stop until late in the afternoon. And there's a lot going on. I think the main thing is just trying to manage it, be organized and be focused. That's the main thing that I'm dealing with right now. But it's all very positive. So it's not like I'm sitting around trying to figure out what to do. |
| 3:24.4 | Really honestly, |
| 3:25.7 | it's trying to figure out what not to do. |
| 3:27.6 | What, like, |
