I want to have a look at the Brexit shenanigans, what is or is not likely

to happen next. Frankly, your guess is now as good as mine. I think, I think I know roughly what

the plan was, but I don't think that that plan can be what the plan is as a result of what

happened at the weekend. And if you are a NHS worker, first of all,

thank you and good luck. Second of all, give me a ring if you get the chance a little later

in today's program because I just want to know how you're doing. I want to find how you're fixed,

what you feel, what you think about where we are now in regard to the biggest medical

catastrophe stroke emergency of our lives.

It just struck me.

It was the daily mirror, actually, a newspaper that I don't pay as much attention to as perhaps I should.

I guess partly as a result of what we've been enduring for the last four years.

I turn first to the newspapers that tell me what the enemy is thinking, so to speak, as opposed to what the other side are thinking.

But the mirror really nails the front page today. It says we are all burnt out. Exhausted NHS staff could quit in droves unless they get a pay boost now. Unions warn.

Even with a pay boost, I suspect many will be feeling

near the end of their tether. And it is to you I would like to talk later in the program today,

because I'm going to go out on a limb here and I'm going to say that moving, though it was,

the sight of millions and millions of your fellow countrymen and women clapping on their doorsteps in admiration and gratitude for what you've done doesn't put food on the table or indeed pay the bills or perhaps make much sense in the context of all the effort now being put in to persuading you that the virus isn't a big enough deal for a lockdown after all.
