How Real Faith Shapes Real Life: John 8:12-30: Daily Devotional, Daily Bible Study In this episode, Rachael Groll talks about what it really means to follow Jesus beyond looking for quick answers or easy solutions. She unpacks the call to live in God’s light, even when that light exposes hard truths or invites us to stand firm when others don’t understand. Rachael encourages listeners to pursue a faith that is deeply relational, not just intellectual — a faith shaped by actually knowing Jesus and learning to recognize His voice in everyday decisions. This conversation invites you to lean into a more personal, transformative walk with God, one marked by truth, courage, and spiritual clarity as you follow where He leads. ☆Go Deeper and Learn to Hear God’s Voice: Knowing Jesus Course ☆Get Ad-Free Episodes, Bonus Content, and more here:  patreon.com/HearingJesus ☆To Learn More About Sponsoring a Child, check out Compassion International here: ➤  Sponsor a Child ☆Go on a trip with Rachael: Bible Study Live ☆Have a question for Rachael? Living in the light means choosing God's perspective. Aligning our actions with God's truth is essential. Trusting God's timing is crucial amidst external pressures. Experiential faith is about knowing Jesus personally. Faith involves allowing Jesus to guide our decisions. We must speak into dark places with God's truth. Transformation is rooted in a relationship with Jesus. Our faith should be relational, not just intellectual. Living in the light requires courage against misunderstanding. Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast where I help you to know God and to make him known.

0:10.6

There was one experience I had when I was a kid that has stuck with me throughout my years.

0:16.5

And I was at summer camp and I had this little Barbie flashlight and it was one of those summer

0:22.5

camps where you had to go outside of your cabin to go to the restroom even, you know, if it was

0:27.7

in the middle of the night. And I took my little pink Barbie flashlight that probably had really

0:33.0

old batteries in it and it barely, barely lit up even my hand, let alone the path where I was walking.

0:40.7

And so I finally got to the restroom. I finished what I was doing, and I turned around to go

0:45.3

back towards the cabin, and by this point, the flashlight was completely dead. And honestly,

0:51.0

I couldn't even remember which cabin was mine, and it was probably 2 a.m.

0:55.1

It was completely dark out.

0:57.5

There was woods all around, and all of a sudden I'm hearing the owls, and I'm hearing, you know, the grass move,

1:02.7

and I'm hearing all these noises that are making me confused and overwhelmed.

1:07.4

And thankfully, my cabin leader came out and rescued me with her big maglight flashlight.

1:15.3

And you know, that moment has stuck with me because I feel like often we can feel like that

1:21.7

spiritually, where we're alone in the dark and we're bumping around. And that's why I love this passage we're

1:29.1

going to study today in John chapter 8, where Jesus says, I am the light of the world. Because

1:34.2

the reality is, is we are literally bumping around in darkness, spiritual darkness and sometimes

1:40.8

even physical darkness. That statement, though, isn't just a metaphor. It reveals who

1:47.0

Jesus is and who he wants to be in our lives. It carries authority. And it's the way that he

1:53.1

brings truth and direction into our lives. Instead of being in this place of spiritual darkness

1:58.9

and confusion and sin, Jesus brings light to our world.

2:03.0

And so we're going to talk about that today. I'm reading John chapter 8, verses 12 through 30.
