reformer, critic of corporate power, and one of the most influential Americans of the last

recently, Civic Self-Restpect, which is available from Seven Stories Press.

Well, you know, your new book is in many ways a positive book.

It is a book about what people can do.

It is an empowering book for citizens of our democracy.

But before we get to the positive part, I want to dwell a little bit on

the negative because obviously we have a new president in power. Trump has returned to power

this year and is many ways tearing apart a lot of the institutions that you so value. Could you

tell us a little bit about the situation that

we are in right now under the current president?

Well, this book, Civic Self-Rex fits like a glove with the fascist dictatorship

that Trump is imposing on the country. He's elected dictator that's happening around the world.

But a lot of Trump voters are saying, I didn't vote for laying off workers and diminishing

Medicaid and the Veterans Administration services and taking away food inspection workers from the meat and poultry line.

So it comes down to this.

Do enough people have civic self-respect to change their daily routine and to basically pick up the effort
