So Let's Stop in Fantalizing Women and Demonizing Men.

For a long time, our society has been preoccupied

with the notion that sex is degrading to women,

dating back to a time when a marriageable daughter was a valuable

commodity whereby upper class families could increase their power and prestige.

But a hundred years after feminism's first wave, this anxiety over women and sex is still with us, wrapped up in contemporary

progressive concerns about trauma, consent, and the Me Too movement. The damage in question

is emotional, not material, but the fear is the same that women will be ruined by sex.

It's a big thing on the left particularly in the wake of me too to argue that the relationships between men and women are all about power and hence that women are perpetually

disadvantaged always on the precipice of victimhood. The result is a dating landscape where every relationship is seen as a potential pathway to abuse.

Nobody trusts each other and sex itself has become problematized. It seems dangerous and not fun at all.

In my essay, explore how a noble impulse to protect young women from

discomfort or unhappiness has led to this toxic measma and how we might find our way out of it by

reacquainting ourselves with the radical notion that women are people who can handle a little discomfort or even a broken heart.
