guest today is Michael Ryan. Michael Ryan is an artist living and working in the

Netherlands. In this episode Michael and I talk about how he ended up moving from New York to the Netherlands

and after a few trips back and forth how he ended up making it his home.

Michael created over 50 commissioned portraits in the first three years

that he lived there. He shares his insights on creating commissioned work,

adjusting to a new culture, and connecting with his models. Michael and I also talk a lot about the

mindset of the artist, how he sets him up to be creative and present in his painting

through walking meditations and thought work.
