Dear Bird Show, I'm in need of some serious advice.

My boyfriend and I have been together for eight years.

Our last year of high school, or through college, and now finishing out our third post-college year.

Our relationship has of course had its

ups and downs, but we have grown strong and rarely fight or have disagreements.

We're both 27 years old, have a house, well technically it's mine because I bought it but we do

live together we both have well-paying jobs that we love we're financially

stable and live a very comfortable life. Everything has been pretty great. Well almost.

Over the last two years I've casually brought up the idea of getting married. I don't want to be a girlfriend forever and

being a mom one day is super important to me but something I

don't want to do until I'm married after the first year or so of dropping hints it

had become clear that he still hadn't done anything to get us there no

discussions with my parents, no

ring shopping, nothing. So I became more clear. About six months ago I had a

serious discussion with him about how important marriage was for me, that it was a non-negotiable

for me and how I didn't want to get complacent with our relationship.
