It is five days until election day. And we are leading this morning's Punch Bowl News with Mel Zanona in Haversstra, New York, in Mike Lawler's district.

Mike Lawler, of course, is facing Mondair Jones in what could turn out.

We don't know because the checks aren't all cash yet, but could be one of the, if not the most competitive,

not most competitive, but most expensive race of the cycle.

Mike Lawler, if you'll remember, beat Sean Patrick Maloney just two years ago,

the D-Triple C chairman in the Hudson Valley.

And now he is running against Mondare Jones.

Mondare Jones represented a different district in New York back a couple years ago and lost

after a bunch of redistricting and things like that. But Mondair Jones lost and is now facing Mike Lawler.

This is a district, by the way, that is that everyone knew would be competitive.

It is a district that obviously Democrats represented.

It's a district that Democrats thought would not fit the rightward drift of the House Republican Conference.

And Mike Lawler has held his own. He won his last election with 49.4%.
