Have you heard of PMDD? Amy was diagnosed with it in college and took Zoloft for it. This came up because last week on Thursday’s 4 Things episode Danae Hays talked about being put on Zoloft at 11-years-old. When Amy got on it in college it totally changed her personality (for the 2 weeks out of the month that she was supposed to take it), so she didn’t end up taking it too long. Should we be able to take off of work during our time of the month (IF WE NEED TO) without consequences?
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“Confidence is 10 percent hard work and 90 percent delusion. I firmly believe that the number one most important life skill you can learn is how to do scary things scared.” - Tina Fey
OTHER THINGS DISCUSSED:
-The more self-aware you are…the more you realize how much you don’t know
-Mom-shaming, limited viewpoints (mom-shaming examples)
-This is how Keanu Reeves protects his peace: “1 + 1 = 5?? Ok sure, you’re right.” (he just doesn’t want to waste time arguing with people and doesn’t have time for that as he’s gotten older)
-Impromptu actors/movie game
-What are you too old to tolerate? Amy shares a list of things (i.e. standing at a concert, holding pee, waiting in long lines…)
-Share movie recs with us: [email protected]

0:00.0 | Happy Tuesday. Welcome to the fifth thing I'm Amy. And I'm Kat. And today's quote is |
0:08.0 | from Tina Fey. Confidence is 10% hard work and 90% delusion. Oh, the rest of the quote |
0:15.1 | just basically says that she firmly believes that the number one most important life skill |
0:18.5 | that you can learn is how to do things scared. So just be delusional that you can do it and |
0:23.6 | work really hard and figure it out even though you're scared and see what happens. |
0:27.9 | But she's one of my favorite comedians. I love Tina Fey. I love Amy Polar. I love Heather McMan. |
0:33.6 | Being a comedian has to be a terrifying job. Oh, yeah. I feel like it's so vulnerable, |
0:39.9 | especially because people's sense of humor can be so different where I can think something |
0:45.4 | is hilarious or like I might not get a joke and to put yourself out there. I know that some are |
0:51.2 | going to completely bomb, which speaking of funny people, Dene Hayes was on my four things |
0:57.6 | episode last Thursday. So if you all miss that, I highly recommend you check it out. She blew up |
1:04.2 | on TikTok during the pandemic. She just like posted something and then overnight hundreds of |
1:09.7 | thousands of followers. And then now she has 2.6 million on TikTok. I found her on Instagram after |
1:16.2 | somebody I know reposted her in their stories. And I was like, oh, that's funny. And I like |
1:20.4 | following funny people on Instagram because I like to laugh. And I clicked on her page and I |
1:26.0 | started following her. And then she had moved to Nashville. And I was like, oh, she lives here. |
1:30.7 | And we didn't talk about this in the episode. But this is how it came to be. I was talking to my |
1:34.8 | acting coach about taking improv. So I hadn't started yet. But I was like, oh, I should take improv. |
1:40.1 | And she goes, actually, my next client is a comedian. And I'll see if she knows a good place in |
1:44.8 | town for you to go. And I was like, oh, that'd be amazing because I don't know what I'm doing or |
1:48.2 | where to go. And I was a little intimidated. I was scared. But I was going to figure it out. |
1:54.1 | And we walk out. And I see this girl walking up the sidewalk and then Bridget, |
