It doesn't look good for the House Republican Conference, Mike Johnson for House Majority Leader Steve

Scalise and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. You know, Johnson likes to say that he is frequently

underestimated. And that's probably true. He has gotten through a lot this Congress. The common thread through all of that is he

gets through things when Donald Trump is involved. That's not a criticism of Johnson, just a reality of

how singular and singularly powerful a figure Donald Trump is. There are more than a dozen Republicans right now on Tuesday

ahead of what is supposed to be a Wednesday vote. It won't be a Wednesday vote. It'll be a Thursday

vote at this point. There are more than a dozen Republicans who have said they are not going to

vote for the budget resolution on the floor. That's the House Senate

budget resolution that is needed to unlock reconciliation in the House and Senate. Now, the leadership

says they are not going to amend this bill. I was talking to an administration official yesterday who

says, this is the bill. And we need to pass this and that's that.

The Senate can't do anything else. This is the sweet spot for both chambers. So let's get this through.
