inner circle kept his cognitive decline a secret.

A few days ago, we learned that former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

According to a statement, the cancer has spread to his bones, but it, quote, appears to be hormone sensitive, which allows for effective management.

He and his family are reviewing

treatment options, and they've thanked Americans for the outpouring of support and well-wishes.

The news came as other questions about Biden's health were back in the spotlight. Throughout

his presidency, Biden, who is now 82 years old, faced scrutiny about his age and his mental cognition,

so much so that he eventually ended his 2024 re-election campaign. And new reporting,

done entirely separately from his cancer diagnosis, reveals the extent to which the former

president's mental acuity appeared to be getting worse while in office, and how the people

in his inner circle concealed it.

Our reporting suggests that this was a deterioration.
