Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast where I help you to know God and to make him known.

Have you ever been so focused on something that you forgot to eat? I actually do that pretty often, especially if I'm working on a passion project, or maybe if I'm caught up in a conversation, especially if the conversation is about God.

Sometimes when that happens before you know it, hours can go by and your stomach reminds you

that you haven't eaten. Well, that's kind of what we're seeing as we're stepping into today's

passage. The disciples are urging Jesus to eat, but he responds in a way that's

kind of unexpected. We're continuing John chapter 4 today, and I'm going to read verses 31 through 42.

It's this continuation of the chapter of the woman at the well. We've done that over the last

two days, so if you haven't listened to those episodes,

I would encourage you to go back. And again, this is high-level teaching. I did dive into this content

pretty deeply this past summer when we went through the She Here's Bible study content.

So if you want more, you can always go back and listen to that. So again, starting at verse 31.

Meanwhile, his disciples urged him, Rabbi, eat something. But he said to them, I have food to eat

that you know nothing about. Then his disciples said to each other, could someone have brought him

food? My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who sent me

and to finish his work. Don't you have a saying? It's still four months until harvest? I tell you,

open your eyes and look at the fields. They are ripe for harvest. Even now, the one who reaps draws a

wage and harvest a crop for eternal life, so that the

sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus, the saying, one sows and another reaps is true.

I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have
