The worst mass shooting in the history of the U.S. state of Connecticut took place at Sandehooke Elementary School in Newtown on December the 14th, 2012.

The murderer was a 20-year-old local man who earlier that morning shot and killed his own mother. At Sandy Hook, he went on to murder 20 children between six and seven years old

and six adult staff members. These horrific events are themselves almost unimaginable,

but so is what happened next.

One of the most notorious purveyors of fake news, lies and conspiracy theories in the United States.

A far-right talk show host called Alex Jones, the founder of Info Wars,

claimed that the story of the Sandy Hook shootings was faked.

The United States government was supposedly

concealing or falsifying information. Jones has made similar false claims about the Oklahoma

City bombing, the September the 11th attacks, and the 1969 moon landing. For some reason,

some of Jones fans and listeners believe this nonsense, allowing Jones to make a lot of money from his fan base.

On today's bunker, we want to explore this extraordinary phenomenon, essentially making money from fake news and baseless, yet heartbreaking conspiracy theories.

Our guest is Robbie Parker. He's the father of one of the child victims of Sandy Hook. His daughter, Emily, was killed. What followed were the lies and fake conspiracy theories of Alex Jones, culminating in a campaign of hatred against Robbie himself and the families of other victims.
