My first phone was a Nokia 3310.

I'm not sure why my parents bought it for me, but I'll have to assume it was because

I relentlessly wind until they finally broke and brought me to the AT&T store.

At the time, it was somewhat revolutionary.

It had a 459-character limit for texting, which was three times the normal text limit, and

it featured something few other phones had at the time.

Snake 2.

Early on, I was pretty addicted.

Not just a snake, but to rack it up a large bill by texting anyone and everyone who is

lucky enough to have a cell phone at the time.

I remember the first text I ever sent.

The first of many.

I sat across the park from my friend Stu who also had a brand new Nokia.

I think his was red.

Considering hardly anyone actually used text to communicate in those days, we decided

to send a text message.

Hence why we were sitting so far apart from each other.

Lord knows it wouldn't have worked correctly had we just sat down right next to each other.

I watched him type, and about 30 seconds later, my phone buzzed.

I'd gotten it.
