science questions today. Alan McCroby is an engineer at Cambridge University.

What exactly Alan do you engineer? I'm a structural engineer, Chris. I tend to do large

things like bridges, towers, skyscrapers, dams. I can't do small things like houses very well.

Even though structural engineering does apply to bacteria and

DNA and things like that.

And when you say you do those things, is that actually coming up with the techniques and the

processes that people will use on the ground to build them, is it designing them?
