I'm Matthew Price. Each weekday we take a proper look at what's going on by asking a big question about a story in the news. Today, how has Me Too changed American politics? I'm standing there on a South Lawn. The helicopter is there. It's huge and beautiful. The president comes out of the White House. the across the South lawn, they have these short haircuts, these men, and they all kind of wear

this mid-blue suit, and they walk often in a single file across the lawn, and they head into

the helicopter.

This whole male gang, all the guys are together.

It's definitely a guy's world here. It's super macho.

It seems there are two very different pictures coming out of the states at the moment.

One is that male-dominated White House world, the patriarchy, men holding the power, women largely excluded from it.

And then there's the other, the Me Too movement. women largely excluded from it.

And then there's the other, the Me Too movement, fighting for women's rights.

There's a battle over gender in America and tomorrow in national elections, the midterms, we will find out who is winning.

Women are campaigning for office and they are voting in numbers that you've never seen before.

Tara McElvey is the BBC's White House correspondent. Most days she's in and out of the West Wing or following

President Trump around on tour, but for this election she's also been talking to women outside

the Washington bubble.

The question of gender is on front and center stage for these elections.

It's become hugely important.

And is that right the way across the country or?

Everywhere.

People are talking about being female or being male in a way that's not usually done in this public of a way

the question of gender equality and gender roles has come up in places you'd never expect it like Lynchburg, Virginia.
