Summary

After 15 years of marriage, Jenn Jett experienced the pain of divorce. But in that place of brokenness, she felt peace that God would redeem and heal her as she said, “Yes” to him.

Listen as she shares her story about how the Lord pursued her, fought for her and surprised her more than she expected with his redeeming love.

The Lord called me to himself and said, ‘Your hope does not need to be in the success of your marriage, it needs to be in me.’ We are so motivated by measures of success and we can look at our circumstances and either feel great or responsible and shameful.

What we chat about:
  • Jenn’s story of brokeness and pain in marriage and divorce
  • Redefining redemption from God’s perspective
  • Marriage and motherhood can become idols
  • Saying Yes to the things of God can take us on an adventure
  • The importance of community and friends as we process lies we’re believing
  • The power of prayer and learning not to hold back in prayer
  • Healing and restoration is possible even after what feels like a catastrophe
  • The Lord pursues and fights for us through multiple ways
  • Scripture: Isaiah 61 & 62
  • Finding our identity in Christ is so key before we have a hard life situation

God's personal pursuit and redeeming love. Walking through this last year and seeing how

0:27.9

he has used it to teach me more about the gospel and to redeem and restore my soul to him is

0:38.0

just a reminder that everything apart from God can be an idol. Even marriage can become an idol.

0:47.1

Raising our children to be godly children can become an idol. I was having a conversation with

0:53.2

my girlfriend this morning that he could have stopped at salvation. Like we could have come

0:57.6

to know him, salvation, but yet he continues to pursue us to sanctify us and redeem us and

1:06.3

make us whole. And I think that is the greatest gift and so much love to not let us just be saved.

1:17.2

And let of Valentine's Day this week I thought it would be good to turn our attention to a God

1:22.8

love story. To remind us that yes God has saved us through giving up his son to save us from

1:29.2

our sins, but he also passionately pursues each of his children to heal up and bind up the wounds

1:36.6

of their soul so that we can hear clearly his voice. That our hearts can hear what he says about

1:43.9

us and how much he loves us. Jen bravely shares her story of letting go of what she thought

1:49.9

redemption would look like. Being reminded of how he makes us new and how when we look back at what

1:56.1

he's done we see who God is. That he's good, he's for us and I'll say it again. He loves it. And

2:03.4

given the nature of this conversation this week, I thought rather than interrupting Jen's amazing

2:08.3

story, I will share this much sponsor here on the front end. Y'all remember last week I told you

2:13.8

about prep dish. Well, I tried it out. I had printed off the grocery list that they sent me,

2:19.1

bought the groceries and then on Monday afternoon after picking up kids from school and before

2:23.3

taking them to karate, I chopped up and prepared all the meals for the week. Yeah, it's true.
