When Lizzie Schofield entered the Gardens of the Year competition back in 2020, she had no expectations

of even being considered for entry, let alone winning the competition. Hers was a tricky garden

on a steep coastal plot right on the northeast coast of Scotland. Lizzie saw herself as more of an

amateur gardener, and even her partner, Malcolm, told her it wasn't worth entering a gardening competition.
