the withdrawal, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and the fragility of U.S. power. Fiji

Thanks a lot. Now, in the forward to this new book, The Withdrawal, the great, the legendary Angela Davis has contributed a forward.

She says of you in particular, she praises your insistence on the need for people inside

progressive circles to generate a sharper sense of our situatedness within global struggles.

And that did get me thinking about the way in which even on the U.S. left, and I like the U.S.

left, I, you know, I consider myself a part of it. But there are too many times I've always do

feel like so many of the issues that are central to the U.S. left are U.S. issues, issues of

United States health care,

issues of the United States economic inequality. There's enough catastrophes within the United

States who occupy our attention. But I want to ask you, how do you interpret what

Angela Davis means there about developing a sense of our situatedness within global
