On this show, Rick Sapio and Gino Barbaro reveal their investing principles and discuss how Barbell Strategy has helped them achieve massive success as investors. Rick is a life-long entrepreneur who started his first company when he was 13 years old, after the untimely death of his father. Since then, he has founded more than 20 companies. For 24 years, Rick has been the Founder and CEO of a financial holding company, Mutual Capital Alliance, Inc. (MCA), which has made more than 100 investments in the past 24 years. His firm has invested into private companies, public companies, start-ups, and real estate. Currently, MCA has dozens of direct and indirect holdings (through its funds) which include publicly-traded companies and funds, private funds, private companies, real estate, and loans. MCA is also an investor in 10 healthcare and medical device companies. He is proud of being the Founding Chair and six-time Chair of the Gathering of Titans Program, an annual event held at MIT in Boston. He is a 1987 graduate of Rutgers University and holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering. Rick resides in Dallas with his wife, Melissa, and their four children. 0:58.1	for a lot of people in real estate. Let's hope that keeps going. So we're on the show talking about
1:04.4	the barbell strategy. And I've got to say before we start, I intuitively knew that I need to have a lot
1:09.6	of money to my safe bucket. And I'll
1:11.4	share a quick story with you. In March of 2020, let's go back, everybody. What happened in March of
1:16.2	2020? The world was ending. We didn't know what we were doing. Grant Cardona is cutting half of his
1:20.8	staff. Everyone's going crazy. Jake and Gino sitting on that Q1 priority meeting. I remember
1:25.0	sitting there. Our coach is telling us the world's ending. And we looked at
1:27.8	each other and we said, we've got plenty of reserves in the bank. We've got cash. We've got
1:32.1	capex accounts. I have my whole life policies. I've got plenty of money. And I knew Rick back then,
1:37.2	because he had spoken to M3, but I really didn't understand the barbell strategy. So for those of
1:41.4	you out there that want safety, that don't want to chase yield with
1:45.1	every dollar that you have, this is an important call for you. I wish I'd known this 25 years ago
