Hi, it's Eve here and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Thursday. So I was teaching a meditation

session the other day over Zoom and I was struck by how many people were saying that they

were feeling stressed, anxious, worried. There was just a lot of suffering that was going

on. Now this was maybe to be expected as we're dealing with some very challenging times.

But more than that, it reminded me that everyone is dealing with something. We are all

part of this shared human experience. But so often in life, it can feel like when we're

struggling with something or facing something difficult, that we're the only ones experiencing

it. And it can feel very isolating. But this past year has been a really great example

that that is just not the case. It got me thinking about one of my favourite practices

in meditation, loving kindness, or another term that it's often known by is boundless

friendliness. So when we're practicing loving kindness, it uses a very particular kind

of visualization technique. Rather than living with resentment towards others, it helps

to train the mind to let go of any hostility, to let go of any anger, and instead be present

with unconditional kindness. And the way this is typically done is by visualising different

people in different scenarios. Sometimes it could be someone you know, including yourself.
