0:08.5	podcast. Great to be with you. Our title is, how do we flourish as leaders under unrelenting
0:14.3	pressure? How do we flourish as leaders under unrelenting pressure? There are significant crises that continue to cascade upon us
0:25.6	as leaders in the church around the world. This, of course, began in earnest around COVID-19 with the
0:34.6	pandemic, and then that, of course, launched all kinds of economic shifts and trends
0:39.2	to accelerate. And then we had other, at least here in United States, extreme political
0:45.5	divisiveness, elections, leadership scandals, issues of racial, social appeals, and a number of other things, to say the least. And so we've had to pivot
0:57.7	in order to lead. And I think the word used very often by people I speak to who are in
1:04.5	leadership is it's overwhelming to shift again into what is the new normal and figure out how do I lead in the middle of all
1:14.4	that. And so it's enormous challenge when we talk about flourishing as leaders under unrelenting
1:21.0	pressure. The key word there is flourish because the world around us, everyone is stressed and overloaded and depleted, exhausted,
1:29.4	striving, just surviving. People in our churches and our ministries are feeling that way.
1:34.8	Folks we lead. And then we've got us as leaders feeling that way. And so it's not uncommon for
1:41.7	someone to say to me, Pete, what you're talking about is flourishing under
1:44.3	unrelenting pressure.
1:45.5	It's just not possible.
1:46.8	And I just want to say at the outset here as we launch that the great words of Jesus to the 12
1:51.8	disciples after hearing from the rich, young ruler who walked away, he said, humanly speaking,
1:57.2	it is impossible to be saved.
1:59.1	But with God, everything is possible.
2:00.7	What I want to say to you today is that it is very possible be saved, but with God, everything is possible. What I want to say to you
2:01.3	today is that it is very possible by the Holy Spirit and God to flourish under unrelenting pressure.
